The J-Man Review
ALBUM: All Right
Here
ARTIST: Sara Groves
IN A PHRASE: Although edgier than her previous efforts, All Right Here, still
contains
the lyrical sincerity and candor of Sara Groves' songs that listeners
have grown to love.
The album's first cut reveals the musical and lyrical drive of this record. A line in the song replies, "more like character", and that's exactly what Sara Groves has accomplished through her newest project, All Right Here.
Things start off with the record's best offering, Less Like Scars, a moving tribute to the healing power of God's grace as it creates a moral fiber through the heartbreaking events of everyday life.
Groves, a lyricist who draws from life experiences, contemplates the "good ole days" in the exceptional track, Every Minute.
Fly is a moving love song written for her husband Troy that married couples should be able to appreciate. And who knows maybe it'll pop up at some weddings
Groves' grassroots country sound comes alive in the confident lyric of You Did That For Me, a testament to Jesus' gift of life through the cross and resurrection, while the funky Just One More Thing is the most musically brave cut on the CD.
The title track
is inspired by Groves' favorite pastime and title of her debut CD, conversations.
With a nice drum and guitar mix, it's a step up for Nate Sabin's production
as well as a nice arena in which to showcase Sara's vocals.
First Song That I Sing is an encouraging reminder to allow God to be our first thought of the day, which allows us to complete the day for His glory.
Other unforgettable tracks on this record include the adventurous Tornado, the moving You Cannot Lose My Love, and Jesus You're Beautiful.
My final word
All Right Here has done what it was produced to accomplish: Bring more musical character to Sara's already insightful lyrical approach.
Until Next Time
